Lord of The Flies: Oh, Ralph – Anisah Hamid

Original Poetry, Original Writing

Ralph was the epitome of weakness.
Superficial and mean.
He mocked the spiritual,
He mocked the wise,
And was unaware of his identity
From the moment he landed
On the island.
He craved the respect of barbaric leaders.
He desired control
Over everyone and everything.
He
Became
The beast.
His ignorance and uncertainty
Made him a coward,
Yet he survived?
He only managed
To mature
When death
Looked him in the eyes
And taunted him with a
“Don’t fuck with me”
Ralph’s innocence and nativity died
When others died.
