Valentine’s Day – The Best One Yet

Original Poetry

Valentine’s Day is so overrated.
That shot of vodka looks tempting.
Let’s make that two, or three, yeah?
Oh, those balloons look hideously cheap,
Let’s take them down.
No-
Let’s rip them
Into shreds.
Why bother dressing up for this commercial misadventure?
I’m going to wear my comfiest pair of jogging bums
With my face completely bare of any war paint,
My bottom firmly planted on my sofa
And a tub of Haagen Dazs to keep me company.
Whilst others will make endless love to their partners
Tonight,
I’m going to enjoy the one thing that makes me feel alive:
The knowledge that I am free.
I am happy,
Carefree
And so
Bloody
Free.
