If You Could Keep One Memory, What Would It Be?

Original Writing

“If you could keep one memory, what would it be?”

Waking up after my cholecystectomy in January 2013 and seeing my family around me. I woke up to see my family sitting by my side and the love they radiated all at once lit up the room; I swear to you I’ve never felt more alive than when I was in that room, an oxygen mask attached to my face and a needle in my vein pumping opioids into my bloodstream. When I was in the greatest need, they made sure I was never alone. Relentlessly devoted to me.
